چکیده

Abstract The study aimed to investigate the temporal changes of pH, sorption complex, and structure soil organic matter through forest profile under beech spruce forests located in Jizera mountains (Czech Republic) affected by natural anthropogenic acidification. Soil samples were collected four different years (2008, 2013, 2015, 2020) each horizon: fermented horizons (F), humified (H), organo-mineral (A), subsurface mineral (B) (cambic or spodic). cation exchange capacity (CEC), base saturation (BS), exchangeable element contents, carbon content (SOC) determined. infrared spectra used calculate indices potential wettability, aromaticity, decomposition. Our results showed that most nutrients aliphatic compounds retained uppermost layers. aromaticity increased with depth, while polysaccharides, regarding decomposition compound, disappeared horizons. In a long-term observation, SOC had constantly beech, remained stable Exchangeable contents horizon, except for Al Fe; their quickly decreased F slowly H horizon both tree species, deeper constant, but A spruce. Continuously increasing cations concentrations complex species during period revealed effect stand types on acid deposition reduction mitigation. CEC, BS, SOC, wettability are more intensive than floor.

Chemical fertility of forest soils: basic concepts

Fertility is a very old concept and many definitions are available in literature. The first edition of the Dictionnaire de l’Académie Française in 1694 defines fertility as: “quality of that which is fertile; good farming is that which contributes most to the fertility of the soil” (the capacity of a soil to produce a large harvest). A more accurate definition appeared in the 18th century in th...

temporal changes in available phosphorus in some calcareous soils

application of phosphorus (p) fertilizers as solid or liquid fertilizers to soils leads to re-actions of orthophosphate ions with various soil components which remove p from the so-lution phase and convert it to less soluble phosphates. this study was aimed at determin-ing soil properties that affect the rate of phosphate retention in 28 contrasting calcareous soils from different geographical ...

The polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon concentrations in soils in the Region of Valasske Mezirici, the Czech Republic

The polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) contamination of urban, agricultural and forest soil samples was investigated from samples obtained in the surroundings of Valasske Mezirici. Valasske Mezirici is a town located in the north-east mountainous part of the Czech Republic, where a coal tar refinery is situated. 16 PAHs listed in the US EPA were investigated. Organic oxidizable carbon was al...
